Elvis Presley’s worldwide tours were nought, except for two. He would have welcomed doing many, but his manager “Colonel” Tom Parker always accompanied the King and was worried that if Parker left the US, there was a good chance that he would not be allowed back into the United States, as he had entered the United States illegally when he was 20 years old. He adopted a new name and dropped “his real name, Andreas Cornelius Van Kuijk “and claimed to have been born in the U.S. the truth be known, the Colonel was born in Breda. the Netherlands and did not have citizenship in the US, not to mention the fact ‘that the Colonel received one half of Elvis’s income, as his manager fee’.

PS

Elvis Presley had already done recordings at Sun Records thanks to Sam Phillips, he played at the Grand Ole Opry and made appearances on TV before he ever met Parker, but, in all fairness, Parker opened many doors for Elvis and Elvis was very grateful. it is worth pointing out that Col. Parker played a large role in getting Elvis his first big record deal with RCA and beyond. Elvis also had a superstitious belief that without the Colonel he wouldn’t be successful., the rest is history.
