Picturesque Toluca Lake is a charming community located in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, California. Known for its picturesque lake, upscale homes, and many celebrity residents, Toluca Lake is a tranquil and exclusive living experience. Bordered by the neighborhoods of North Hollywood, Studio City, and Universal City, this small residential neighborhood has a rich history and a vibrant present. and past history, and, I might add is very expensive to live there. Back in1923 Toluca Lake was blooming with walnut, apple and peach orchard, then came the developers.


The history of Toluca Lake can be traced back to the days of the Tongva Indians, who utilized the area's springs and marshes for water, fishing, hunting, and building supplies [1]. After the Spanish conquest, the San Fernando Valley, including the Toluca Lake locale, became the property of the Mission San Fernando Rey de España. Following Mexican independence, a Mexican land grant was issued for Rancho Ex-Mission San Fernando, which included the eastern end of the lake. In the late 19th century, the property came under the management of Isaac Lankershim and Isaac Newton Van Nuys,(today named Lankershim and Van Nuys Boulevard) who played a significant role in the development of the area.

Toluca Lake is renowned for its natural lake, which is fed by wells and maintained by neighboring property owners. The lake, surrounded by private residences and the Lakeside Golf Club, is a hidden gem that is inaccessible to the public. The neighborhood is also characterized by its upscale homes, offering a mix of architectural styles and luxurious amenities. The tree-lined streets and well-manicured lawns contribute to the neighborhood's aesthetic appeal elegant homes, of which very obvious to the visitor.


Over the years, Toluca Lake has been home and still is to numerous celebrities. Comedian Bob Hope, legendary film composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold, and actress Bette Davis are among the notable residents who have lived in this exclusive neighborhood. Other famous residents include Audie Murphy, Jonathan Winters, Erne Ford, Bobby Daren and wife Sandra Dee, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and many more.
