Archelon, is an extinct giant sea turtle known from fossilized remains found in North American rocks of the Late Cretaceous epoch (100 million to 66 million years ago).
Archelon, was protected by a shell like that found in modern sea turtles, one, A skeleton was discovered just a few miles from Waco, Texas, and was a record 13 feet and complete. Normally, reaching a length of about 3.5 m (12 feet). The front feet evolved into powerful structures that could efficiently propel the great bulk of Archelon through the water.
A Carnivorous, The Archelon turtle is estimated to weigh around 4,500 – 5,000 lbs. It could be up to 16 ft across between both flippers and 13.1 feet long from head to tail. Full grown they were the size of a good sized bedroom.
